The Cultural Alliance is partnering with Studio in a School in New York City to expand its college-level ARTS Intern program to Philadelphia this summer. This program provides paid summer internships to college students from diverse backgrounds and in need of financial aid. Created by Agnes Gund, president emeritus of the Museum of Modern Art, chair of MoMA PS1 and founder of Studio in a School, the program introduces these students to museum professions and provides much-needed summer assistance to museums by underwriting quality internships.

Since 1999, Studio in a School has placed interns in such institutions as Studio Museum in Harlem, The Jewish Museum, El Museo del Barrio, Bronx Museum of the Art and The Folk Art Museum. Studio in a School provides the funds to pay the interns’ salaries for the summer, while the museums provide stimulating and challenging positions for the interns. The program provides $3,000 per intern plus $500 to cover the museum’s administrative costs for each student. Our goal is for the students to learn about careers in the arts, at an age when that can be very influential in their professional development.

Studio in a School is looking to expand the program to seven to 10 Philadelphia museums this summer. We invite you to an information session to learn more about the program and consider participating this year:
